Cráneo trofeo Iban
Los Iban, son un subgrupo de los Dayak en Borneo (Malasia) y sus cabezas trofeo (antu pala) eran obtenidas de sus enemigos; creían que obtenían su "fuerza vital" puesto que el alma se encontraba en la cabeza. Para poder ser considerados hombres adultos y casarse, debían obtener al menos una cabeza y presentarla a su superior o lider mediante el ritual "Ngayau"
Conocidos por su ferocidad, durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, el gobierno británico consiguió firmar una alianza con ellos para luchar contra las fuerzas japones invasoras.
Aunque sus sangrientos rituales fueron prohibidos tras la colonización cristiana, consta que en 1997 protagonizaron un conflicto contra colonos procedentes de Malasia, matándolos a todos, hombres, mujeres y niños.
En cuanto a los "trofeos" eran envueltos en mimbre o madera y colgados en los techos de las casas.

Iban Trophy Skull
The Iban are a subgroup of the Dayak in Borneo (Malaysia), and their trophy heads (antu pala) were obtained from their enemies; they believed they obtained their "life force" from them, as the soul resided in the head. To be considered adult men and marry, they had to obtain at least one head and present it to their superior or leader through the "Ngayau" ritual.
Known for their ferocity, during World War II, the British government managed to forge an alliance with them to fight against the invading Japanese forces.
Although their bloody rituals were outlawed after Christian colonization, it is recorded that in 1997 they engaged in a conflict against settlers from Malaysia, killing them all—men, women, and children.
As for the "trophies," they were wrapped in wicker or wood and hung from the ceilings of houses.
